The Botany and Plant Pathology Graduate Student Association

Graduate students in BPP form the Graduate Students Association (GSA). This organization provides a handbook for incoming graduate students, offers an orientation program for the department's new graduate students, and sponsers social and professional activities throughout the year. Click here to view the By-Laws of the GSA.

The GSA is comprised of all graduate students in the department.Through the years, the efforts of officers and the graduate student community created a fairly strong and positive force in developing a close working relationship among students and faculty. The GSA sponsors several social activities throughout the year, including an active orientation program for new students. In recent years, the GSA has been fortunate enough to have representatives who are able to participate on departmental committees. Funding for GSA-sponsored activities is accumulated from fundraising events, coffee room proceeds, T-shirt sales, and private donations.

The GSA provides travel grants for graduate students presenting work at national conferences. We also offer tips on traveling as well as loaning out poster tubes for travel.

The GSA encourages students to participate in the deparmental undergraduate mentorship program BUDS (Bolstering Undergraduate Development and Success)
